FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What is the Citation Fine?

A: No. There is no grace period.
Q: If I go to trial
and am found "liable/guilty" can I defer payment?
A: No. If the judge assigns a fine, the amount due must be paid
at district court on the day of trial. If a citizen is found liable/guilty at
trial and leaves court without paying the fine, late fees will be assessed.
A: Not at this time. You may request to appear in District
Court by returning the completed form at the bottom of your citation, at least five days
prior to the “Due Date”.
A: No.
There is no processing fee for online payments.
Q. My registration is flagged at MVA. If
I pay the citation does the flag automatically get removed?
A: No. After the citation is paid you must obtain a VR-119 form
from the issuing jurisdiction. In order to have the flag removed, this form
must be provided to the MVA by the registered owner or a representative.
Charles County will provide the VR-119 free of charge. It is the responsibility
of the vehicle owner to contact MVA and have the flag status removed.
