AUTOMATED CAMERA ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM

Q: What is the Citation Fine?

A:  The fine for violating a monitored traffic signal is $75.00 (set by Maryland State Law). If the citation is not paid or appealed as required by law, the citation will be automatically judged liable and you will forfeit your right to appeal.

Q: Is there a grace period?

A:  No.  There is no grace period.

Q:  If I go to trial and am found "liable/guilty" can I defer payment?

A:  No. If the judge assigns a fine, the amount due must be paid at district court on the day of trial. If a citizen is found liable/guilty at trial and leaves court without paying the fine, late fees will be assessed.

Q. Can I schedule a trial date online?

A:  Not at this time.

Q. Is there a processing fee for online payments?

A:  Yes. $2.00

Q.  My registration is flagged at MVA. If I pay the citation does the flag automatically get removed?

A:  No. After the citation is paid you must obtain a VR-119 form from the issuing jurisdiction. In order to have the flag removed, this form must be provided to the MVA by the registered owner or a representative. Howard County will provide the VR-119 free of charge. It is the responsibility of the vehicle owner to contact MVA and have the flag status removed.
